Carpet and Upholstery Care Tips

  • Rearrange the furniture and turn cushions occasionally to ensure even wear of the cushions, fillings and fabrics.
  • Vacuum upholstery, curtains and carpets often to remove dust and grit that can cause soiling and fibre abrasion.
  • Take care when wearing clothing that could cause dye transfer such as jeans etc. Dye transfer on to light coloured furniture can be difficult to remove.
  • Protect furnishings from the sun and strong natural light as this will cause fibre degeneration and colour fade. Occasionally, dyes can fade from impurities within the atmosphere such as cigarette smoke and cooking fumes.
  • Keep pets off the furniture. Pet urine and body oil can be difficult to remove.
  • Take proper care with loop, open weave and structural weave fabrics to protect against snags.
  • Leading retailers recommend that you have your upholstery and furnishings professionally cleaned every 12-18 months.

Frequently asked carpet cleaning questions

Do you move furniture?

We will move most couches, chairs, and tables for a small fee of £10. Heavier items, and furniture with electronics or breakables on them will either need to be moved ahead of time by the homeowner or we can clean around it.

 

Will you be able to remove all stains on my carpet?
No guarantee can be given for complete stain removal because some stains, such as food colouring's, hot drinks, cosmetic products, plant foods etc. may cause permanent colour change to the fibres and may react adversely to stain removal products. All spots and stains cannot be removed from every fibre and fabric due to differences in fibre type and construction, the dyes used, and the finish of the fabric. The composition of the spill and the length of time the stain has remained on the fabric also has a bearing on stain removal.

 

How long will my carpets take to dry?
Carpet cleaning tools A lot depends on the type and thickness of your carpets and of course, the weather, but most carpets will be dry within 24 hours. Some may take a little longer.

 

How long before I can walk on the carpets?
It is better if you can leave them to dry but we recommend you wait at least 1 Hour plus before you walk on the carpet, with bare feet.

 

I work five days a week, can you clean my carpets without me being at home?
Yes, if you wish, we can make arrangements and then return the key back to you. Contact us for further information.

 

I am going on holiday, can you clean whilst I am away?
Yes, you can come back to clean fresh carpets and home. Just tell us who has the key and arrange for some one to be on call shall we need them and we will do the rest. Contact us for further information.

 

How Often Should I Clean My Carpet?
Thorough cleaning extends the life of your carpet and saves you the tremendous amount of money required to replace prematurely worn carpet. The answer can depend on several factors but we would recommend once every 18 to 24 months in most cases.
